Sorry, can't help you there. Sewing is one thing that I do not do!
That sounds like a lot of money though for something that is 20 years old. Just my opinion.
Berninas are excellent machines. I have a 12 year old Bernina and a 2 year old Janome. I have found that my Janome won't sew heavier weight fabrics, (like canvas) so I go to the Bernina and it plows right through it, no problem. It is a good work horse of a machine. You might do a little online research though and look for reviews on the particular machine and see what other people have to say.
